Every year, the government receives around 15,000 complaints about all forms of Medicare, including private insurance plans that operate under Medicare Part C. Recently, a probe launched by the Senate Committee on Finance announced that Medicare Advantage complaints doubled from 2020 to 2021, with Texas, Florida and California having among the highest numbers.

Working on a Medicare Advatage platform I am frustrated with the extreme marketing measures that do intact mislead intentionally seniors to call in only to find an insurance agent on the other end of the line with a sole purpose of changing the beneficiaries current plan to a new plan just to meet company goals in sales and commission. I recently commented to another agent that we used to be considered professional and now I feel like a call center lacky making someone else rich off of my professional license. I resigned and will return to the world of the 1099.

I absolutely agree. I worked for a large Medicare chop shop last AEP and the false ads and pressure tactics were atrocious.
You can’t sell MA plans unless you use strong inference, leave out certain key portions of the benefits, in short…..If you tell the client EXACTLY what he’s buying, and what he’s giving up, you’ll sell VERY FEW OF THE THINGS…..having been in the senior market for some 57 years, I refrained from signing up to sell them when they first came out…..I will not “lie” or infer a lie to make a sale, didn’t then, don’t now !
The biggest issue is with the ads that are red, white and blue. Leading seniors to believe they are dealing with Medicare. Most can’t read the disclaimer due to size. I advise my clients that they are insurance agents and not Medicare. I do this every year at our annual review meetings
